Russian Orthodox Church began development of the school course "Fundamentals of Religious Cultures and Secular Ethics", designed for ten years and taking into account the knowledge of schoolchildren in other subjects.
On January 16, 2015, it became known that The Russian Orthodox Church is developing a school course "Fundamentals religious cultures and secular ethics”, designed for ten years, and not only for fourth grades. This was announced by the chairman of the Synodal Department Religious Education and Catechesis Metropolitan of Rostov and Novocherkassk Mercury.
According to him, the goal of the new course is “to have a comprehensive an educated person and, most importantly, a thinking person . Therefore, the course is developed taking into account programs in other subjects, including biology and music.
“We want to create such a unified spiritual and moral, an educational course that would, throughout all the years of education accompanied schoolchildren and would be inextricably linked with other subjects " , - the metropolitan said.
The exact timing of the development of the course has not been established.
