Experts criticized the idea of ​​a single literature textbook

In May 2014, members of the Commission on Culture and Preservation of the Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Public Chamber proposed creating a single textbook on literature, forming among schoolchildren “The idea of ​​moral values”, in October, in the State Duma, they began to develop a draft law introducing the study of literature according to all schools of the textbook.

“This idea of ​​a literature textbook is not accepted by the overwhelming majority of teachers, it causes active rejection,” Kommersant quoted the words of the candidate of philological sciences, the author of the textbooks of Viktor Zhuravlev.

He believes that a new concept of teaching literature at school is needed, but "it should explain how best to teach literature, and not what exactly to study in the lesson."

To develop a single concept - by analogy with the already approved single concept of the school course of history - proposed in December the State Duma speaker Sergey Naryshkin.

“It is completely incomprehensible how to express this single concept and which of the writers to include there,” said the professor, doctor of philological sciences, author of school and university textbooks Vladimir Agenosov.

He noted that now the issues of literature are too politicized-for example, there is someone believes that "writers of the 19th century destroyed Russian statehood and are to blame for the revolution," and the editor-in-chief of the Literary Newspaper Yuri Polyakov "called Solzhenitsyn a traitor." “Therefore, the liberal and the national oriented author will get two completely different concepts,” Professor Agenosov believes. “And if they demand to quickly prepare such a document, we will simply break firewood.”

One of the authors of the bill on a single literature textbook, a member of the State Duma Committee on Defense Franz Klintsevich assured that the textbook is not supposed to be any ideological component. “The main ideology is a love for the homeland, there will be nothing else,” Klinsevich said. “We want children to study the correct moral aspects in literature lessons.”
