Apatity: fine for extremist materials on social networks

In January 2015, an Internet user in Apatity was fined for posting extremist materials on the VKontakte social network.

The prosecutor's office of the city of Apatity conducted an inspection on the fact of posting extremist materials on the VKontakte social network. The inspection showed that a man living in the city on his Internet page on the VKontakte social network posted texts that were recognized as extremist by the decision of the Kominternovsky District Court of Voronezh and included in federal list of extremist materials.

An administrative case was opened. The man avoided appearing in the Apatity city court, in connection with which, at the request of the city prosecutor's office, he was subjected to administrative detention in accordance with Art. 27.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses and placed in the temporary detention center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia "Apatitsky".

Apatity City Court found the violator guilty of committing an administrative offense under Art. 20.29 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (mass distribution and storage of extremist materials) and subjected to administrative punishment in the form of a fine.
