The former synagogue building will be handed over to the Oryol Jewish community

The authorities of the Oryol region have prepared a proposal for the transfer into the property of the Jewish religious community of one of the buildings of the highway technical school. This was preceded by litigation.

February 10, 2015 State Property Department Oryol region announced its readiness to transfer the ownership of the Jewish religious community building of the educational building of the Oryol road technical school on Sovietskaya street.

Previously, this building was a synagogue, so in 2011 the community applied to the regional government for the transfer of the building, but then the believers were refused. Officials motivated the refusal by the fact that in 1944 year the building was rebuilt and ceased to be suitable for services.

In December 2012, the 19th Arbitration Court recognized the actions authorities illegal and ordered officials to transfer the building into ownership religious organization. Representatives of the regional government tried challenge this decision, but in April 2013 the federal court of the Central District confirmed the need to transfer the educational building.

Now the Department of State Property has prepared a proposal for transfer of the building.
