Nationalist arrested in St. Petersburg

On February 12, 2015, in St. Petersburg, FSB officers detained Maksim Kalinichenko, suspected of involvement in the creation of the social network "VKontakte" group "Russian Right Sector".

On February 13, the Kalininsky District Court ruled that M. Kalinichenko should be placed under restraint and ordered him to be arrested for one month and 9 days, that is, until March 20 inclusive. Such a measure of restraint was demanded by the state prosecution. Kalinichenko's defense may appeal the decision to the City Court within three days.

M. Kalinichenko is accused under part 1 of article 280 of the Criminal Code (public calls for the implementation extremist activities).

M. Kalinichenko - well-known ultra-right in St. Petersburg, one of the main organizers of the "Russian Runs", has already attracted the attention of law enforcement officers and was arrested on rally on December 10, 2011 on charges of inciting mass unrest. The case of M. Kalinichenko caused a great resonance. At the end of February 2013, he was sentenced to 2.5 years of probation and released in the courtroom.

In 2013, he created in the social network "VKontakte" a group called "Navalny Kremlin Puppeteers", which opposed the opposition.

WITH At the end of 2013, Kalinichenko strongly opposed the annexation of Crimea to Russia and the actions of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics, because of which he spoiled relations with a significant part of their former associates. After he called to bring to the procession on May 1, 2014 in St. Petersburg flags of the " fraternal people of Ukraine" to support their struggle against barbaric interference in internal affairs independent state" , Kalinichenko was attacked for "Bandera".

November 4, 2014 before the start of the rally "For Slavic Unity" Kalinichenko (one of the potential organizers of the rally) was detained by the police while leaving the house.

The "Russian Right Sector" is an association of ultra-rightists who support the actions of the Ukrainian authorities in the Donbass.

The first page in the social network "VKontakte" of the "Russian Right Sector" group, numbering almost four thousand members, was blocked on demand Prosecutor General's Office. After that, several more groups with the same name appeared.

On November 17, the Supreme Court of Russia recognized the Ukrainian organizations "Right sector", "Ukrainian National Assembly - Ukrainian People's self-defense" (UNA-UNSO), "Ukrainian Insurgent Army" and "Trident Stepan Bandera" extremist.
