The Venezuela parliament again extended, by the end of 2015, the action of the so -called "authorizing act", or the "anti -imperialist law" , adopted at the end of 2013 and allowing President Nicholas Maduro "for the sake of building socialism and the struggle against external and internal enemies" to erase any decrees that have the power of the law - without approval by deputies. At the same time, in Venezuela, against the background of another sharp exacerbation of relations with the United States, military exercises began the largest over the past 2 years.
The National Assembly of Venezuela, in which most places belong to deputies from the ruling "Chavist" Unified Socialist Party (PSUV) , the leader of which is Nicholas Maduro , extending the action of the "authorized act", organized a mass rally in Karakas on Sunday in the support of the president, at which he himself acted as the main speaker: he himself acted as the main speaker:
- I have a letter written to the people of the United States and President Barack Obama, in which I tell them the whole truth about Venezuela, I declare the aggression that he untied by signing you all a well -known decree, and in the name of morality, on behalf of all the people faithful to Bolivar’s covenants, I demand that Barack Obama cancel its decision that threaten our country!
Nicholas Maduro meets with seven senior officials of Venezuela, against whom the United States imposed personal sanctions. March 10
On March 9, the US president imposed sanctions providing for the ban on the entry and arrests of financial assets placed in American banks against the seven higher officials of Venezuela, found to be guilty of human rights violations, infringement of freedom of speech, corruption and persecution of the opposition and their political opponents. US State Department spokesman Jennifer Psaki noted that preparations for the introduction of these sanctions were conducted for a long time :
- Today we carried out what we worked on for several months, these are decisive measures against people who abuse their position, suppressing the main freedoms and civil society in their country. Today we called only the first names of several people. In addition, over the past months, we observed the strange behavior of President Maduro, who accused the United States of a certain global aggression that is not and cannot be. Right, this is outrageous, and only then to distract the attention of the people from the mass of difficult problems in their own country. In this regard, of course, in recent months we have seen a real aggravation.
Speaking about the "exacerbation", Jen Psaki, obviously, had in mind the statements of Nicholas Maduro , like this, in which he habitually identifies himself and his environment with the whole country and its citizens:
Nicholas Maduro and Chairman of the National Assembly of Venezuela Diosdado Cabel. March 15
- President Barack Obama decided to drive himself into a trap, from which there was no way out, in a trap, he intended to go down in history, like former presidents Richard Nixon or George Bush Jr.. Yes, President Obama in the future will be remembered for his decisions-and because of aggression against the Venezuelan people. The great, worthy of the people, because the Venezuelans are civilians, and you, President Obama, have no right to attack them, just like proclaiming that Venezuela is a threat to the people of the United States!
A little earlier, the Venezuela government announced the disclosure of a hundredth of a “conspiracy against the revolution”, allegedly prepared by the local opposition for the money of the CIA of the United States, and the identification of a “huge” network of secret American agents. After that, Nicholas Maduro turned to the Venezuela national assembly with a proposal to extend his “special powers”, which should ensure the peaceful development of the “Bolivarian Revolution” and withstand Washington’s threats:
- We cut out criminal activity and seized several US citizens who were involved in it - we are talking about dirty espionage, about attempts to attract some Venezuelans living in cities on the coast, to recruit and force the imperialists even residents of some poor suburbs! In Tachira, we even arrested the pilot of an American aircraft, a US citizen of Latin American origin, with all documents and papers. Therefore, I ordered the Minister of Foreign Affairs Delsi Rodriguez immediately, in accordance with the provisions of the Vienna Convention, to begin the revision process, towards the reduction, the number of accredited US diplomats at their embassy in Venezuela. I also decided to introduce a mandatory visa regime for all American citizens who want to enter Venezuela without exception. They will pay for a visa fee in exactly the same amount as the Venezuelans entering the United States.
The head of the Foreign Ministry of Venezuela Delsi Rodriguez announces the fulfillment of the presidential order. March 12
Having reported all this at a meeting of the government, Nicholas Maduro spoke at the next grandiose rally in the evening, where he stated that it was the “Gringo’s interference” in Venezuela's affairs that made him “answer a blow to the blow”. At the same time, neither he nor any other Venezuelan officials and generals never called the names of any of the “spies” caught and did not give any evidence of the discovered “conspiracy”, and the US Embassy in Karakas refused comments. At the same time, on the same day, Venezuela was released from arrest and expelled from the country, with a ban on entry in the next 20 years, four American Christian missionaries, detained for unknown reasons a week earlier.
Venezuela and the USA almost simultaneously withdrew their ambassadors from each other's capitals back in 2010, and since then the situation has not changed, but the embassies and their employees themselves continue to work. At the same time, private citizens come to Venezuela less and less-due to steadily growing crime, corruption, poverty, lack of ordinary consumer goods, worsening service in the tourism industry and, of course, constantly pumped by local pro-government media in general anti-American hysteria. In 2014, about 36 thousand US citizens were visited by a total of about 36 thousand US citizens - half as much as a year earlier.
New visa rules, first of all, will create difficulties not for the remaining tourists, but for businessmen, because, despite all the tension in relations, Venezuela remains an important manufacturer of hydrocarbon raw materials in the world market and still an object for private American investments. The main market for Venezuelan oil, despite all the anti-imperialist and anti-American rhetoric of Nicholas Maduro, is still the United States of America.
