Daria Polyudova appealed to the ECHR
At the end of March 2015, Rot-Front activist from Novorossiysk Daria Polyudova appealed to the ECHR.
On March 30, 2015, it became known that Kuban Rot-Front activist Daria Polyudova, who is accused under Part 2 of Art. 280.1 of the Criminal Code (public calls for actions aimed at violating the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation, committed using the Internet) and Part. 1 and 2 tbsp. 280 of the Criminal Code (public calls for extremist activities), filed a complaint with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
According to Polyudova's lawyer Alexander Popkov, she is formally challenging her arrest. Polyudova believes the criminal prosecution against her is disproportionate and unjustifiably cruel. In addition, she does not consider her statements extremist and believes that prosecution for them is a violation of the European Convention on Human Rights.
Let us recall that Polyudova, who was arrested in early September 2014 and released from pre-trial detention center on February 25, 2015, on her own recognizance, anarchist Vyacheslav Martynov and psychologist Pyotr Lyubchenkov became defendants in a criminal case for attempting to organize a march in Krasnodar for the federalization of Kuban. Lyubchenkov and Martynov fled to Ukraine. In March 2015, information appeared that Polyudova was charged under Art. 280.1 of the Criminal Code are based on a number of her publications on the social network VKontakte, not related to the organization of the march for the federalization of Kuban, although she obviously served as the reason for the persecution.
From our point of view, the criminal prosecution of Polyudova is unlawful . We do not have detailed information about the content of the publications she made, however, judging by preliminary information, they did not contain dangerous calls worthy of criminal prosecution.
