Less than a year has passed: commemorative ribbons issued for the 150th anniversary of the end of the war in the Caucasus were returned to Circassian activists

The green ribbons with the words "Day of Memory and Sorrow" confiscated under the pretext of checking "for extremism" were returned to the activists of the Circassian World organization.

Recall that in May 2014 Beslan Teuvazhev, activist of the organization "Adygekhem I Dunei" ("Circassian World"), one of the organizers of the campaign for the manufacture commemorative ribbons for the 150th anniversary of the Russian-Caucasian war, was detained in Moscow on the way from the printing house, from where he picked up commemorative tapes issued for the day anniversaries. Under the pretext of checking "for extremism", his all the tapes he had in the amount of more than 70 thousand pieces.

As Teuvazhev explained in an interview to the "Caucasian Knot" even before detentions, an action in memory of the war is held annually. "Recent no changes were made to their design for two or three years. The ribbons themselves are green. On They indicate the official dates for the start and end of the Caucasian War. In Russian, English, Turkish, Abaza languages, as well as in two dialects words are written in the Circassian language: "Day of memory and sorrow." Perhaps in this year, the ribbons will indicate that it is 150 years since the end of war ," the activist said.

Almost a year went to law enforcement to conduct an examination. In their opinion, in the studied material there are no signs of "humiliation any group of persons or its representative; threats of violence accompanying calls to obstruct the lawful activities of a person or groups of persons .

As stated Teuvazhev, this year the activists will also distribute commemorative ribbons: "A lot of people want to get these particular tapes, as they were released in connection with on the 150th anniversary of the end of the war. Yes, and the excitement that has risen from their withdrawal, further fueled interest in them. Therefore, they will be distributed as last year's tapes, as well as this year's tapes" .
