The Museum of the History of St. Petersburg, on behalf of believers, was offended by the April Fool's joke about a missing angel

On April 1, 2015, Fontanka.ru published a joke about the disappearance of an angel from the spire of the Peter and Paul Cathedral. Museum Directorate, the balance of which is the cathedral, considered the publication offensive to believers.

On April 1, 2015, Fontanka.ru published a message that an angel disappeared from the spire of the Peter and Paul Fortress Cathedral. On the next day, the Deputy Editor-in-Chief received an appeal Director for General Affairs of the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg S. Kondratiev. The appeal says that the museum management considers the publication of this "inaccurate information" unacceptable, "even as an April Fool's joke."

“The angel on the spire of the Peter and Paul Cathedral is a symbol Petersburg and a shrine for a huge number of believing Petersburgers and the creation unhealthy hype negatively affects the image of our city " , - says in the document.

The Museum Directorate asked not to publish unreliable information about objects and exhibits of the museum.

The Fontanka editors apologized to the believers. "Guilty fired. Everything is in order with the angel, nothing threatens the image of the city anymore , ” in the message.
