Arrest of blogger extended again in Tomsk

At the end of August 2015, it became known that the court extended until September 28 the arrest of blogger Vadim Tyumentsev, who is suspected of inciting ethnic hatred (part 1 of article 282 of the Criminal Code) and public calls for extremism (part 1 of article 280 of the Criminal Code) .

In February 2015, the RF Investigative Committee for the Tomsk Region initiated a criminal case against local blogger Vadim Tyumentsev under Art. 282 (inciting national hatred or enmity) and Art. 280 of the Criminal Code (public calls for extremist activity) of the Criminal Code for posting materials on the Internet.

According to the investigation, V. Tyumentsev distributed in social networks, on forums and a number of Tomsk Internet portals two videos with signs of extremism.

In the spring of 2015, he was sent for a psychological and psychiatric forensic examination.

Tyumentsev himself calls this case political and insists on his innocence. “ I don’t think I’m guilty, many have already sentenced me. Yes, my videos are on the verge. But I didn’t cross this line. I think so ,” said V. Tyumentsev.

On April 28, 2015, the Kirovsky District Court changed the preventive measure for Vadim Tyumentsev. According to the blogger, the investigators suspected that he violated the terms of his travel ban and left the territory of Russia. In particular, he traveled through Belarus to Ukraine. The court decided to change the measure of restraint for the blogger from recognizance not to leave the place to detention. Vadim Tyumentsev was detained for 2 months until 28 June.

Recall that Vadim Tyumentsev in August last year took part in the organization of the "March for the federalization of Siberia."

On June 30, 2015, the Kirovsky District Court of Tomsk extended the arrest until July 28. In August, it became known that the arrest was once again extended until September 28. The meetings are held behind closed doors.
