Kursk: sentence handed down for publishing a racist video on a social network

In April 2015, a sentence was passed in Kursk in a case against 18-year-old local resident Ivan Verikhov, who was accused of publication of a xenophobic video on the VKontakte network. In April 2015, the RF Investigative Committee for the Kursk region announced that the court had sentenced 18-year-old Ivan Verikhov. He was found guilty under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity).

Recall that on the night of February 8, 2014, Verikhov posted a video file in free access on the VKontakte social network, which, according to an expert study, " contains linguistic and psychological signs of inciting discord (enmity, hatred) between groups of people united on a racial basis ".

The court sentenced Verikhov to 120 hours of compulsory work.
