Four members of Hizb ut-Tahrir were sentenced in Bashkiria

Four members of Hizb ut-Tahrir have been sentenced in Bashkiria. The court found that they had contributed to terrorist activities.

April 9, 2015 Moscow District A military court at an off-site meeting in Ufa passed a sentence on four members of Hizb ut-Tahrir - Yevgeny Kulagin (33 years old), Rasim Sataev (27 years old), Alexei Khamadeev (33 years old) and Aidar Garifyanov (38 years old). They are recognized guilty under 1 st. 30 st. 278 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempt to seize power by force) and part 1 of Art. 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (assistance terrorist activities).

Recall that young people were detained in early November 2012 in Ufa as part of a criminal investigation under Part 1 of Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of the activities of an extremist organization).

The court acknowledged what in In 2011-2012, all four “conversed with the parishioners of mosques, persuading them to participate in terrorist organization”, “studied with them extremist literature and video materials based on manipulation techniques, as well as held meetings and conferences promoting intolerance towards other religions”.

Defendants partially pleaded guilty to the crime.

The court sentenced E. Kulagin to 7 years imprisonment, R. Sataeva to 6.5 years in prison, A. Khamadeeva and A. Garifyanov to 6 years deprivation of liberty in a penal colony of strict regime. They are also assigned punishment in the form of a subsequent restriction of freedom for 1 year.

Recall that we consider it unlawful to accuse the followers of Hizb ut-Tahrir of propagating terrorism only on the basis of party activities (holding meetings, reading literature, etc.).
