Korean wooden idols were cut down in St. Petersburg

In one of the parks of St. Petersburg, vandals cut down wooden idols Changsyn, explaining that "we have an Orthodox state."  

On the night of April 15, 2015 in the Sosnovka park in Vyborgsky Petersburg, four out of fifteen sculptures of Korean idols were cut down Changseung. The sawn-down idols were thrown into the park.

An eyewitness to the incident Maxim Dolzhenko reported on his on the VKontakte page that one of the vandals called what was happening a “special operation” and added: "We have an Orthodox state and we do not need this."

Changseung idols made by Korean craftsmen and donated to the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg, were installed in the park in 2003. Believed to be idols should bring good luck and protect the townspeople from evil spirits.
