VRNS called to fight Russophobia

Expert Center of the World Russian People's Cathedral distributed a memorandum in which he called for the fight against Russophobia. At the same time, as Russophobia is considered and negative reviews about the ROC.

April 28, 2015 World Russian Expert Center People's Cathedral (VRNS) distributed a memorandum on the "fight against Russophobia".

The authors of the memorandum consider it an omission that the word "Russophobia" " has not yet found its due reflected neither in international legal instruments, nor in the normative legal documentation of the Russian Federation" .   They are also dissatisfied with the fact that “the scientific study of the phenomenon of Russophobia in Russia and in the world is also in its infancy.” This document is intended to give public impulse to realize the danger of its spread in Russia and in world, encourage the scientific community to study Russophobia as one of the modern varieties of xenophobia .

The authors of the memorandum refer to Russophobic defamation, in in particular, "false accusations of Russia in unleashing the Second World War, the concept of "equal guilt" and "equally criminal nature" USSR and the Third Reich” and negative publications about Russia in foreign media.

As one of the forms discrimination is given " restriction of scope of the Russian language, even in those regions where Russians make up the majority " , in particularly in the Baltic States and Ukraine. In the Donbass, according to drafters of the document, today there are “pronounced signs of genocide” Russians.

Ideological, doctrinal Russophobia, they believe in the VRNS, widespread not only in the West, but also within Russian society. Her they see the manifestation in the fact that many people “made a choice in favor of Western civilization and felt themselves a part, the avant-garde of this more "advanced" society in a hostile environment of "backward aborigines" . Among other signs of domestic Russophobia the authors of the memorandum indicate "indifference to the oppression of Russians in neighboring states” and “the exclusion of any indications of the subjectivity of the Russian people and Russian identity from the official lexicon and political practice" .

As a religious aspect of Russophobia in the memorandum mentions a negative attitude towards the Russian Orthodox Church and Orthodoxy, in including critical reviews on social media. As a manifestation of religious Russophobia the performance of "Pussy riot" in Cathedral of Christ the Savior in 2012.

“In our days, in the year of the seventieth anniversary of the Great Victory, Russophobia should be condemned at the state and international level as one of the the most dangerous xenophobia that provoked millions of human victims, sowing hatred for one of the most numerous peoples of the planet and striving to the destruction of one of the world's major civilizations ," the document says.
