Racism and xenophobia. Results of April 2015

In April 2015 far-right attacks injured at least 8 people in Petersburg, Volgograd and Murmansk, one of which died.

Altogether with at least 30 people suffered from racist attacks at the beginning of the year, of which 3 people died. These attacks took place in 9 regions of Russia: Moscow and Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Volgograd, Murmansk, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara and Sverdlovsk regions, the Republic of Karelia (recall, this statistics do not include victims of incidents that occurred in the republics of the Northern Caucasus and Crimea). In addition, 2 people received serious death threats.

In April we four acts of xenophobic-motivated vandalism are known. Total since the beginning At least 14 actions of xenophobic vandals took place last year.

Public activities of the far right in April was low. It can be noted that the activists of the “Russians” Association held a picket on about the March 30 assassination of the far-right football fan Ivan Stanin during the conflict with people from the Caucasus in St. Petersburg. Nationalists held banners "The murder of a visitor - fascism, the murder of a Russian is a domestic conflict. Only 6 participated in the action Human. In addition, two pickets were held in support of the leader of the "Russians" Alexander Belov, who was arrested on suspicion of embezzling $5 billion from Russian and Ukrainian depositors of the Kazakh BTA Bank.   The first picket was held on April 5 by the Astrakhan branch of the Association, it gathered not more than 7 people. The action was attended by the head of the department - Igor Stenin. The second action on April 19 was carried out by nationalists from the RONA movement on Manezhnaya Square in Moscow: 4 people stood with posters, demanding the release of A. Belov, and kept his photograph.

But the ultra-right were active in carrying out various raids. For example, in St. Petersburg 12 April, the first in 2015 "Russian cleansing" was held, organized by the National Socialist initiative (NSI) and carried out personally by its leader Dmitry (Schultz) Bobrov. Participants (approximately 5-6 people) walked from the Vladimirskaya metro station to the embankment Obvodny canal, "found" one migrant selling vegetables on the street. Employees the police, at the request of Bobrov, checked the documents and suspended the fish trade, driven by two women in an equipped van.

In April 2015, only one sentence for racist violence, but very loud - April 21 Moscow the regional court passed a verdict in the case of the famous neo-Nazi group "Combat organization of Russian nationalists" (BORN). Maxim Baklagin and Vyacheslav Isaev were sentenced to life imprisonment, and Mikhail Volkov - to 24 years in prison for committing a series of racist attacks and murders. Yuri Tikhomirov was acquitted in this case (in 2012 he had already been sentenced to ten years in prison for the murder of anti-fascist Ilya Dzhaparidze).

Total since At the beginning of the year, there were 6 convictions for violent crimes, in which the courts recognized the motive of hatred, in 5 regions of the country. In these trials, 10 people were convicted.

Behind xenophobic-motivated vandalism since the beginning of the year, only one sentence. April 17, 2015 in Krymsk, Krasnodar Territory Ivan Novitsky and Borislav Streltsov were convicted of desecrating a memorial in honor of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.

But for the xenophobic propaganda in April, 20 sentences were handed down against 21 people in 14 regions countries. Among them are well-known St. Petersburg nationalists. On April 24, Nikolay Bondarik was sentenced   to 1.5 years of probation with a three-year probationary period with a ban on during this period to use the Internet, speak in the press and even participate in sanctioned actions and processions. 22 April Dmitry (Mad) Yevtushenko ("Slavic Force", "Russian cleansing") was sentenced to 3 months of restraint of liberty.

Total since at the beginning of the year for racist and other far-right propaganda, at least 51 verdicts in which 55 people were convicted in 32 regions of the country.

Federal the list of extremist materials was updated ten times in a month (1, 6, 7, 8, 9, April 10, 13, 14, 23 and 28). Items 2681 - 2772 were included in it. The list was replenished: materials Nazi skinheads and Muslim militants, Hizb ut-Tahrir materials brochures , of Jehovah’s Witnesses, neopagan materials, announcement candidate for deputy to the Duma of Irkutsk, Ivan Gushchin, that "Khokhlov need wet everywhere".
