The Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church divided several more dioceses

On May 5, 2015, a meeting of the Holy Synod took place Russian Orthodox Church, which decided to separate several more dioceses and filling vacant departments.  

Three new dioceses were formed on the territory of the Altai Territory: Biysk, Rubtsovsk and Slavgorod eparchies were separated from Barnaul. Barnaul and the three new dioceses together now make up the Altai Metropolis.

The Severobaikalsky diocese was separated from the Ulan-Ude diocese and together they formed the Buryat metropolis.

Shadrinskaya was separated from the Kurgan diocese, and the territory of the Kurgan region also created a metropolis.

Vyazemskaya was separated from the Smolensk diocese, both of them make up the Smolensk Metropolis.

In addition, the Synod decided to fill the vacant Petrozavodsk Department: Archbishop Appointed Head of Karelian Metropolis Kurgansky and Shadrinsky Konstantin.

Archbishop appointed head of Kurgan Metropolis Birobidzhansky and Kuldursky Joseph, and the vicar of the Khabarovsk diocese, Bishop Ephraim of Bikinsky.

Cleric appointed to another vacant cathedra, Chistopol Hieromonk Parmen (Schipilev) of the Rostov diocese. He is determined to be a bishop Chistopolsky and Nizhnekamsky.

Metropolitan of Izhevsk and Udmurt sent to rest due to upon reaching the age of 75, Bishop Sarapulsky was appointed the new head of the metropolis and Mozginsky Viktorin, who remains the temporary administrator of the Sarapul diocese.
