The Synod recommended the creation of departments of theology in secular universities in the territories of all dioceses

The Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church recommended to the bishops in whose territories dioceses do not yet have theological structures in universities, to start creating them.  

On May 5, 2015, a meeting of the Holy Synod took place Russian Orthodox Church.

The members of the Synod declared the need to create theological divisions in secular higher education institutions in the territory of all dioceses. those dioceses where there are no theological councils yet, it is prescribed to create them and seek the creation departments or departments of theology in secular educational institutions.

For those dioceses where there are already such structures, it is recommended “strengthen interaction” “with state educational institutions in the development of theological education in universities and the training of qualified personnel for church and public service" .
