Alexander Belov complained to the ECHR

On May 11, 2015, one of the leaders of the Russian Association, Alexander Belov (Potkin), complained to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) about illegal arrest . In January 2016, it became known that the complaint was accepted for consideration.

On May 11, 2015, the lawyer of one of the leaders of the Russian Association, Alexandra Belova (Potkina), reported that the nationalist had complained to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) about the illegal arrest.

According to the lawyer, her client is convinced that the criminal prosecution against him was initiated for political reasons. The court did not have sufficient grounds to place him under arrest. And the current Code of Criminal Procedure (CPC) does not provide for a preventive measure in the form of arrest when charged under Art. 174 of the Criminal Code (legalization of money and property acquired by criminal means).

In January 2016, it became known that the complaint had been accepted for consideration.

Let us recall that the nationalist was detained on October 15, 2014 in Moscow at the Intourist Kolomenskoye hotel. In mid-October he was placed under house arrest. On November 23, the Tverskoy Court of Moscow changed the preventive measure to imprisonment in a pre-trial detention center. The detention was carried out as part of an investigation into a criminal case about the theft of $5 billion from Russian and Ukrainian depositors of the Kazakh BTA Bank. A. Belov is charged under Art. 174 of the Criminal Code (legalization of funds acquired by other persons through criminal means). On January 12, 2016, the arrest was extended until June 21, 2016.
