The cause of the accident of the Progress space missile was the emergency separation of the 3rd stage of the Soyuz 2.1a launch vehicle, Interfax reports with reference to the head of Roscosmos Igor Komarov.
It is noted that the final causes of the accident will be established until May 22. According to telemetry, there was also a depressurization of tanks of the 3rd stage.
“As a result of the work of the State Commission, it was possible to collect telemetry data and they confirmed an abnormal separation, which includes two consistent divisions related to depressurization, that is, by opening the third stage of the carrier, and then the fuel of the third stage of the launch vehicle,” Komarov said, ”said Komarov.
Earlier it was already reported that the emergency work of the third step engine was the probable cause of the “Progress” accident.
