Moscow State University students opposed the installation of a monument to an Orthodox saint

Students and teachers of Moscow State University ask the President not to erect a monument to Prince Vladimir on Sparrow Hills, for the installation which the Orthodox spoke.  

On May 28, 2015, it became known that students and Moscow State University teachers turned to Vladimir Putin with a request to move the 24-meter monument to Prince Vladimir from the observation deck on Sparrow Hills.

The authors of the appeal are outraged that the project was not submitted for public discussion. They reported that the installation of the monument within the borders immediately three protected zones is contrary to several federal laws, threatens stability of the slope of the Sparrow Hills and violates the "visual perception of the complex buildings of Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov in his historical, urban and natural environment" .

More than 1,000 people signed the appeal.

Recall that earlier a picket in support of the monument was held Orthodox.
