In Crimea, a criminal case was initiated under Art. 280.1 of the Criminal Code against the head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov.
On May 29, 2015, it became known about the criminal case under Art. 280.1 of the Criminal Code (public calls for the implementation of actions aimed at violation of the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation), initiated by the Investigation Department of the FSB Directorate for the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol in relation to the head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarova. It is stated that he will be put on the international wanted list.
According to investigators, in April 2015, Refat Chubarov in an interview Ukrainian media called for the violation of the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation, namely " to the exclusion of the Republic of Crimea from the Russian Federation and the accession her to the territory of Ukraine ".
What kind of interview was the reason for initiating the case, not to be specified. It is known, however, that on April 1, 2015, the Ukrainian Channel 5 aired an interview with Chubarov, in which he demanded the return of Crimea to Ukraine and stated that the Ukrainian people must be ready " for an open full-scale war against Russian Federation ".
In our opinion, Chubarov's statements made in this interview (if the consequence has in mind precisely him), should be taken rather as a figure speech than a call to war.
In addition, in our opinion, the initiation of a case on "separatism" in relation to the leader of the Crimean Tatar Mejlis is unacceptable: it is impossible to blame in the separatism of a man who did not recognize the affiliation. In addition, the question of the annexation of Crimea, which is clear from the point of view of Russian laws, is not so clear from the point of view of from the point of view of international law, and the inhabitants of the peninsula should have the right to have a point of view in this dispute.
