Ion activist abandoned amnesty

75-year-old civil activist Vladimir Ionov, accused under a new criminal article on rallies, abandoned the amnesty. This was stated by his lawyer Olga Chavdar, reported by the OVD-Info. He hopes to prove his innocence in court.

Ionov is subject to amnesty on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the age of age - men over 55 years old fall under its action. The lawyer noted that ion can be amnestied in the event of a conviction if it is issued before the expiration of the amnesty in October.

On Friday, the final charge under Art. 212.1 of the Criminal Code (repeated violation of the procedure for holding a meeting or picket). The investigation in his case is completed. According to Chavdar, two episodes of the detention of Ionov on September 13 and 14 on Manezhnaya Square were excluded from the case. Instead, two later episodes were added. This is the detention of Ionov and Mark Galperin on Pushkinskaya Square on March 21, as well as the detention of Ionov on the picket in defense of Nadezhda Savchenko at the Lefortovo pre -trial detention center on May 11.

The other two episodes remained the same. In January, the Judge of the Tver District Court of Moscow Denis Ivanov fined Ionov for 20 thousand rubles under part 2 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (holding a public event without notification) for a single picket on January 10 on Manezhnaya Square with a poster "JE Suis Charlie" and 150 thousand rubles - for part 8 of the same article (rallies) January 15.

On January 16, the case was opened against Ionov under Article 212.1 of the Criminal Code . This was the first case of the application of the article introduced in the summer of 2014. According to it, the administratively punished four times during the year for violation of the rules of rallies threatens up to 5 years in the colony. He is under the subscription about the loss. The Human Rights Center "Memorial" regarded the persecution of Ionov as politically motivated .

On June 28, the bailiffs for non -payment of administrative fines blocked Ionov’s pension card . Now the activist is actually deprived of a pension.
