Racism and xenophobia. Results of July 2015

In July 2015 from At least 4 people were injured in racist attacks in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

In July it was at least 2 acts of xenophobic vandalism were recorded in the Lipetsk region. Total Since the beginning of the year in Russia, we have recorded 23 acts of such vandalism in 16 regions countries.

The public activity of the ultra-right was low. Costs note only the procession "For Honor and Freedom", which the nationalists held on the "Day of the Right Political Prisoner" on July 25. Organizer the action was performed by the Association "Russians", whose leader D. Demushkin promised to compensate by marching the failed "Russian May Day" in Moscow. In Moscow, the mayor's office did not agree one of the proposed march routes, and then the picket was not approved. Eventually, "Folk festivals" took place in the city near the monument to the "Heroes of Plevna" and single picket near Novokuznetskaya metro station. Both events brought together 10-15 people.

In one form or another, actions were held in St. Petersburg, Astrakhan, Volgograd, Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk, Kemerovo, Krasnodar, Nizhny Novgorod, Orel, Saratov, Syktyvkar and Ulyanovsk, but they were extremely few.

The loudest of of them was the sentence to the former leader of the Russian Image organization Ilya Goryachev, who was accused of organizing the BORN terrorist group and organizing a number of murders committed by her; he was sentenced to life deprivation of liberty.

Total since the beginning of the year at least 12 convictions for violent crimes were handed down, in which the court recognized the motive of hatred. In these trials, 26 people were convicted in 11 regions of the country.

For ideological vandalism in July 2015 was one sentence. In Tomsk, the court sentenced a man for desecrating a monument to Vladimir Lenin in the village of Maryakovsky Zaton to year of restriction of freedom.

In total, we know 4 sentences for xenophobic or neo-Nazi motivated vandalism against 5 people carried out in the Krasnodar Territory, Sakhalin and Tomsk Regions.

For xenophobic propaganda in July 2015, there were 14 convictions in 13 regions of the country. 15 people were convicted under these sentences, among them well-known St. Petersburg ultra-right activist Maxim Kalinichenko. For the creation of social network "VKontakte" group "Russian Right Sector" he was sentenced to 2 years and 7 months in a strict regime colony with a ban on occupying certain positions for a period of 1 year and 1 month.

Total since the beginning of 2015 year, 97 sentences were handed down for xenophobic propaganda against 105 people in 46 regions of the country.

At the end of July St. Petersburg prosecutor's office filed a lawsuit to ban NSI as extremist organizations; the prosecutor's check found that NSI activists "distributed ideas of National Socialism" and propagated ideas of racial superiority.
