On August 11, 2015, in the Trans-Baikal Territory, a criminal case was sent to court against a prisoner from one of the correctional colonies for comments on the social network.
On August 11, 2015, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Trans-Baikal Territory completed the investigation of a criminal case against a 36-year-old man who is charged under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting national hatred or enmity).
According to investigators, from November 2014 to January 2015, the accused, using a smartphone, left comments and notes of an " extremist nature" on various websites .
The accused was in correctional colony No. 8, located in the village of Karymskoye, and worked as a stoker. Based on the results of the investigation into the circumstances of the crime, the investigators sent to the regional department of the Federal Penitentiary Service a submission about the shortcomings in the work of the colony employees, who did not ensure that the prisoners comply with the regime.
A criminal case has been initiated based on materials received from the department for combating extremism of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Trans-Baikal Territory.
The investigation collected a sufficient evidence base, the criminal case with the approved indictment was sent to the court for consideration on the merits.
