Bills have been developed in St. Petersburg to limit the transfer of cultural objects to religious organizations

Supporters of restricting the transfer of cultural objects to religious organizations did not have enough votes to include the relevant bills on the agenda of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg.

On September 16, 2015, the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg refused to include on the agenda bills to limit the transfer of cultural heritage objects to religious organizations.

Two such bills were developed by a group of independent deputies and the Yabloko party and approved by the Culture Commission. However, less than half of the deputy corps voted for their inclusion on the agenda.

On September 23, the Legislative Assembly, like a week ago, was unable to accept these bills for consideration.
The reason for the appearance of these bills was the claims of the Russian Orthodox Church to St. Isaac's Cathedral .
