Administrative case against the leader of "Russians of Astrakhan"

In Astrakhan, a case under Art. 20.29 Administrative Code against the nationalist Igor Stenin. He is charged with publishing a video on the VKontakte social network, which was recognized as extremist a year later and under a different name.

September 17, 2015 it became known that in the Soviet District Court of Astrakhan is considering an administrative case under Art. 20.29 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (distribution of extremist materials) in relation to the head movement "Russian Astrakhan" by Igor Stenin.

He is accused of posting in 2012 the video "Orange sun 14/88" in the social network "VKontakte". However, in The federal list of extremist materials included the video "Orange sun 88 "(that is, with a different name), besides, it is prohibited on based on the decision of the Zavodskoy District Court of Kemerovo dated June 17, 2013.

Stenin pleads not guilty: he points out that the video was posted a year before its recognition as extremist. In addition, it has a name other than the forbidden one, and therefore, the nationalist claims, he does not have it was possible to find out about the identity of the videos and remove the prohibited material.

In our opinion, the persecution of Stenin in this case illegally. The prosecutor's office should have limited itself to a warning demanding delete the video and - taking into account the identity of the suspect and the nature of the video, clearly justifiably prohibited – indicate that if the illegal content not deleted, a criminal case may be initiated against the user.
