The Investigative Committee began checking Sidur’s works for signs of incitement to hatred

The Investigative Committee began an investigation based on requests from believers who complained about “offensive” exhibits at the exhibition in the Manege. The check concerns the works of Vadim Sidur.

On September 26, 2015, it became known that the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation began checking the funds of the Manege museum and exhibition association for the presence in the works of Vadim Sidur of signs of inciting hatred, humiliation of a person or group of persons on grounds of attitude towards religion.

The inspection is carried out in response to requests from a number of Orthodox believers who saw an insult to religious feelings in the exhibits of the “Sculptures We Don’t See” exhibition.

Let us recall that on August 14, 2014, four members of the organization “God’s Will” staged a pogrom at the exhibition, citing the fact that the exhibits on display insulted believers. The leader of "God's Will" Dmitry Tsorionov (Enteo) was sentenced to ten days of arrest, his associate Georgy Soldatov - to five, and two more rioters were fined one thousand rubles.

A criminal case has been opened into the pogrom.
