Amendments tightening the financial reporting of religious organizations were adopted in the second and third readings

The State Duma approved the amendments to the law in the second and third readings "On freedom of conscience of religious associations". The amendments tighten financial reporting of religious organizations and gives the Ministry of Justice the right to check their economic activity.  

On November 18, 2015, the State Duma adopted in the second and third readings of the draft law "On amendments to Federal Law "On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Associations" (in part of improving the legal regulation of the procedure for creating and state registration of religious organizations).

Please note that the amendments grant the Ministry of Justice the right to check the financial and economic activities of religious organizations in the presence of signs of extremism in their activities, as well as requiring religious organizations to report on sources and amounts of foreign funding and provide information on organization leaders.
