December 16, 2015 in the Federal list of extremist
organizations published on the official website of the Ministry of Justice, one organization was added. The official website of the Ministry of Justice has updated the Federal List of Extremist Organizations (official
title - List of public and religious associations, other
non-profit organizations, in respect of which the court has accepted the entered into
decision on liquidation or prohibition of activities on the grounds,
provided for by the Federal Law "On countering extremist
activities" ).
One item has been added to the list:
- Local religious organization of Jehovah's Witnesses in the city of Abinsk ( decision of the Krasnodar Regional Court of 03/04/2015 and ruling of the Judicial Collegium for Administrative Cases of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation of 08/05/2015).
The basis for recognizing the community as extremist was that a member
Abinsk community of Jehovah's Witnesses was brought to administrative
responsibility for the distribution of the books "Humanity in search of God" and
"What does the Bible really teach?", "The Bible: the word of God or man?",
included in the Federal List of Extremist Materials. Organizations
issued a warning about the inadmissibility of extremist
activities, but members of the organization continued to distribute
religious literature. We regard the persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses and the banning of their texts as
extremism illegal and perceive them as religious
discrimination.
