Penza: Fine for videos on the VKontakte network
In December 2015, a local resident in Penza was fined for posting videos on the Internet "containing the themes of justifying terrorism and extremism."
In December 2015, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Penza Region announced that the court had passed a sentence on a 19-year-old local resident. He was found guilty under Part 1 of Art. 205.2 of the Criminal Code (public calls for terrorist activities or public justification of terrorism) and Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting national hatred or enmity).
The investigation and the court established that the young man posted videos on his page on the VKontakte social network, which, according to expert research, are "statements degrading a person on the grounds of gender, race, nationality, language and origin, as well as justifying terrorist (i.e., e. violent) actions against a group of persons who are not terrorists ."
The defendant explained that this was how he wanted to convey his views.
The court sentenced him to a fine of 150 thousand rubles.
