The KHL fined HC Spartak for a racist incident

On January 14, 2016, the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) fined HC Spartak for the behavior of fans at the match with HC Medvescak.

On January 14, 2016, the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) decided to impose a fine on HC Spartak for the behavior of fans at the match with HC Medvescak on January 13, 2016 (Appendix 6 of the KHL Technical Regulations). Recall that on January 13 in Moscow in Sokolniki at the match "Spartak" - "Medvescak" fans of "Spartak" threw two bananas on ice. In addition, from the stands there was a hoot at the address black hockey player "Medvescak" Edwin Hedberg.

In accordance with paragraph 33 of Article 31 of the KHL Disciplinary Regulations, HC Spartak was additionally fined for throwing foreign objects onto the ice by fans. The total amount of the fine was 700,000 rubles.

The official statement emphasizes that " violations related to inciting racial, national and interstate hatred are unacceptable ."

Vice-President of HC "Spartak", a member of the board of directors of the KHL Valery Kamensky said that "Spartak" is unlikely to appeal the decision of the KHL. " We must comply with the rules league, so we make this decision. The press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Moscow said that the police had begun a procedural check on the incident at the match.
