In Chelyabinsk, five members of Hizb ut-Tahrir were sentenced.
On February 4, 2016, the Moscow District Military Court, at an offsite hearing in Chelyabinsk, sentenced five Muslims accused of collaborating with Hizb ut-Tahrir.
Residents of Chelyabinsk Salavat Khabirov, Alfred Shaimov, Rinat Shamsutdinov, Orifdzhan Mirov and Radik Kabirov were found guilty on CC. 1, 2 art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization and participation in the activities of an extremist organization), part. 1, 2 art. 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization and participation in the activities of a terrorist organization) and Part 1 of Art. 30, art. 278 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (preparation for a violent seizure of power or a violent retention of power). According to investigators, in 2013 they organized a structural unit of Hizb ut-Tahrir in Chelyabinsk, headed by S. Khabirov. All together they held meetings, studied the literature of this organization, involved new people in it. The court sentenced S. Khabirov to 17 years in a strict regime colony and 1.5 years of restriction of freedom, A. Shaimov - 16 years in a strict regime colony and 1.5 years of restriction of freedom, R. Kabirov - 6 years in a strict regime colony, R. Shamsutdinov and O. Mirov - 5.5 years in a strict regime colony and a year of restriction of freedom each. Recall that we consider it unlawful to accuse the followers of Hizb ut-Tahrir of terrorism only on the basis of party activities (holding meetings, reading literature, etc.).
