“ In recent days, information has again appeared about a possible the construction of a mosque in the city of Volzhsky, and again this news subjected residents to cities in shock. <...> Especially against the backdrop of lobbying by the governor of the construction huge temple in the center of Volgograd, despite the massive protests of local residents against cutting down the park for the construction of the temple. Governor instead construction and repair of roads, instead of the development of transport, is only engaged in the construction of a temple for billions of rubles , ”the text of the petition says. IN it can be seen not as a protest against Muslims or a mosque, but as an anti-religious message in general. However, already in the next phrase of the petition, fear of Islam: “ We are really afraid for our city, we are afraid for our loved ones, we are afraid for our children. We do not want to offend or offend anyone, but honestly speaking, we all know that the mosque and the Islamic ideology in general are very a favorable environment for the development and emergence of radically minded people in the city elements and Islamic terrorism. <...> We all remember the terrible terrorist attacks in Volgograd, where terrorists killed dozens of people by blowing up a bus, train station and trolleybus. <…> We we don’t want to live in fear all the time .”

Fear of terrorism is accompanied by mistrust of Islamic leaders: “ Unfortunately, even peaceful Muslims themselves do not control their ideology and the Islamized regions of the country and constantly suffer from Islamic fanatics and terrorism .”

Recall that in Volzhsk it is planned to build a two-story Islamic center with a mosque in the center city, close to the train station. The amount of land allocated for construction plot - 1.5 ha. In the city, according to Islamic media, today there are about 50 thousand Muslims and there are only one mosque (in the basement).
