The case of a resident of Chuvashia, who was persecuted under Art. 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses for reposting from the public of the young singer Monetochka.
On March 25, 2016, Semyon Kochkin from Cheboksary reported that an administrative offense case had been initiated against him under Art. 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (public demonstration of Nazi symbols) for reposting an image with Nazi symbols on the VKontakte social network.
According to Kochkin, the case was initiated on the basis of materials from the Center for Combating Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Chuvashia and the republican FSB. The reason for the persecution of the Cheboksary citizen was a repost of a recording made on January 28, 2016 from the official page of a young Yekaterinburg singer, schoolgirl Elizaveta Gyrdymova, known under the pseudonym "Monetochka". The recording consists of a remix of one of the singer's songs and a collage on the theme of her work using a manga-style image of a girl in a Nazi uniform with a swastika armband.
In July 2019, it became known that the case was dismissed.
From our point of view, the publication of this image did not have the purpose of promoting Nazism, however, Art. 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses punishes any demonstration of prohibited symbols without regard to context. We oppose persecution for displaying Nazi symbols without regard to the presence or absence of a propaganda context.
