The director of the Moscow zoo Natalya Kolobova was dismissed from his post, and Svetlana Akulova will fulfill her duties on April 5 on April 5.
“A year ago, the question was about extending the contract with N. Kolobova, but then, when changing the leadership of the Department of Culture, it was decided to extend the contract and conduct an assessment,” the agency “Moscow” quoted the capital Department of Culture.
“However, in a year, the department has repeatedly received complaints about the leadership of the zoo both from visitors and employees. Problems concerned issues of personnel policy, financial and economic activities, as well as animal content. ”
According to the newspaper "Kommersant" , the zoo employees came in support of Kolobova. They turned to the Deputy Mayor Pechatnikov with an open letter.
The authors insist that Kolobova’s reforms were carried out with the knowledge of the Department of Culture, including the reduction of part of the personnel. They also oppose the appointment of Akulova, who was engaged in "a purely commercial part of the zoo and did not participate in the design work and reconstruction, or in the zoological and environmental activities of the institution."
