A conference “Religion in the public arena: the problem of discrimination on religious grounds” was held in St. Petersburg
April 26, 2016 at Petersburg, the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Religion in public arena: the problem of discrimination based on religion”.
Organizers conferences became the Information and Analytical Center "Sova", the Center for study of the problems of religion and society of the Institute of Europe RAS, Guild of Experts on religion and law with the support of the Scientific and Methodological Council for Religious Studies Academy of Enlightenment and Additional Education, International Public Organization "Knowledge Society" St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.
Those present were experts, lawyers, representatives of religious organizations – discussed the problems of discrimination based on religion; change legislation affecting the activities of religious organizations and its application; conflicts around the protection of the feelings of believers; persecution of believers and religious organizations in the fight against extremism and other problems in sphere of freedom of conscience.
Conference greetings the representative of the European Commission Tatyana Bokareva and the doctor of sociological Sciences Mikhail Smirnov.
