The Supreme Court confirmed the legality of the sentence of a St. Petersburg resident convicted of participation in Hizb ut-Tahrir

Judicial Collegium for Cases military personnel of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation refused to satisfy the appeal Sergei Yablokov, who tried to challenge the verdict for participation in the activities of Hizb ut-Tahrir".  

On June 7, 2016, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation confirmed the indictment sentence to a resident of St. Petersburg Sergei Yablokov. The Supreme Court agreed with the verdict of the court of first instance, which found S. Yablokov guilty under Part 1 of Art. 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of the activities of a terrorist organization) and the sentenced him to 12.5 years in prison and restriction of liberty for 1 year.

According to the court and the investigation, S. Yablokov, together with Roman Ivanov , convicted under the same article, led the Hizb ut-Tahrir cell in Petersburg.
