Kandalaksha: verdict in case of public calls for extremism

In June 2016, it became known that in the city Kandalaksha, Murmansk region, the court sentenced to 1.5 years in prison conditionally a local resident who published materials on the social network calling for violence against Russians.

In April 2016 in the city of Kandalaksha, Murmansk region a criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code (public calls for extremism).

The case was initiated against a local resident A. Grigoriev, who, according to the investigation, published on his page on the social network "VKontakte" some material calling for violence against Russians.

It is reported that during the search, the suspect had objects with neo-Nazi symbols, such as a swastika, were found.

On May 23, 2016, the Kandalaksha District Court recognized the young man guilty and sentenced to 1.5 years in prison conditionally. Besides, the convict is prohibited during the year to hold certain positions in the public service or in local authorities related to the use of the Internet.

IN June 2016, the verdict entered into force.
