The Investigative Committee announced the completion of the investigation of the case initiated against Anton Nosik under Art. 282 of the Criminal Code.
On June 10, 2016, the Main Investigation Department of the Russian Investigative Committee for Moscow announced that the investigation of the criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting hatred or enmity) against blogger and media manager Anton Nosik has been completed. The indictment was approved, the case was sent to court.
The criminal case was initiated in November 2015 in connection with the publication of the Nosik blog titled "Erase Syria from the face of the Earth." In his post on LiveJournal dated October 1, 2015, Nosik called for carpet bombing of Syrian territory until the country's civilian infrastructure was completely destroyed and praised the deaths of civilians, including children, as deserved. On the same day, on Ekho Moskvy, the blogger confirmed that he supports the killing of women, children and the elderly during the military operation in Syria, since they ultimately pose a danger to Israel. On April 26, 2016, Nosik was charged and a measure of restraint was chosen in the form of a written undertaking not to leave the place.
We believe that Nosik's statements contain calls for war and statements about the inferiority of the Syrians, which can incite hostility towards this people. However, we doubt the need for criminal prosecution of the blogger due to the fact that the public danger of his statements is small: hostility towards the Syrians is not widespread in modern Russian society, and as for calls for bombing, they are addressed to the governments of countries whose decisions are The nose has no effect.
