The Dagestan wrestler was charged under articles 148 and 282 of the Criminal Code.
On June 11, 2016, the Dagestani wrestler Said Osmanov, who is charged under Part 2 of Art. 148 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (insulting the religious feelings of believers, committed in places specially designed for worship), another charge was brought - under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting hatred or enmity).
The Supreme Court of Kalmykia satisfied the complaint of Osmanov's defense and allowed him to be released on bail in the amount of 150 thousand rubles, but when the Dagestani was leaving the pre-trial detention center, he was detained and charged again. The court arrested the wrestler until July 2, 2016.
On April 2, 2016, an athlete who came to Elista to compete urinated in a temple and kicked a Buddha statue. The incident sparked public outrage.
We doubt the legitimacy of accusing Osmanov of inciting hostility, since neither the media nor the reports of law enforcement agencies mentioned that he spoke at all about anything during his stay in the temple.
