Investigative Committee of Russia for the Ryazan region on extremist crimes

On June 24, 2016, an extended meeting of the Board of the Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Ryazan Region was held on the effectiveness of the work of the investigating authorities in countering extremist crimes.
According to official bodies, in 2015, the investigative divisions of the investigative department for the Ryazan region were 7 criminal cases on crimes of an extremist nature, all of which were about a crime under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity).

In 2016, 4 criminal cases were initiated and investigated in Ryazan.

Crimes are detected mainly in the city of Ryazan and "are characterized by the predominance of acts committed using Internet resources, by posting videos on social networks containing extremist materials in their plots ."

In 2015, 6 such criminal cases were sent to court, for 5 months of 2016 - 2. Most of the defendants are young people aged 18 to 20, city residents, students of various educational institutions, both secondary vocational and higher education.
