In June 2016, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Kemerovo Region initiated a criminal case against an 18-year-old resident of the city of Leninsk-Kuznetsky, suspected under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting hatred or enmity).
According to investigators, from March 2013 to January 2014, the suspect posted in the public domain on his personal page on the social network VKontakte " photo and video materials containing statements aimed at inciting religious hatred or enmity " against non-Slavs.
The young man told the investigators that a few years ago he saw a video on the Internet related to the beating of a teenager by a group of young people of non-Slavic appearance, which “made a strong impression on him, he decided to disseminate information calling for a fight against them.”
In August 2016, the case was referred to the court for consideration on the merits.
