The Dimitrovgrad prosecutor's office succeeded in blocking three anonymizers

The prosecutor's office believes that the work of anonymizers contributes to inciting hatred.

On July 7, the prosecutor's office of Dimitrovgrad, Ulyanovsk region, announced that, based on its statements of claim, the court recognized the information contained on three anonymizer sites as prohibited for distribution in Russia.

During the audit, the prosecutor's office found that with the help of three free anonymizers, Internet users could access any sites blocked in connection with the placement of extremist materials on them, and had the opportunity to "view information about the inferiority of citizens on the basis of their nationality, language and religion , leaving no information about your real location and IP address ".

" At the same time, the law prohibits the activities of individuals or legal entities aimed at the distribution of extremist materials, as well as their production or storage. It is obvious that providing such an opportunity in a free form contributes to inciting interethnic and interreligious hatred and enmity," the prosecutor's office noted .

Note that anonymizers themselves do not contain any prohibited information. Access to prohibited materials can also be carried out through other tools, including through a conventional search engine, since it has not yet been possible to completely remove them from the global network - however, this possibility is not a reason to close access to search engines. In this regard, we consider decisions to block anonymizers unlawful.

Previously, such decisions twice   were made of the Oryol Region were blocked once each by the Anapa City Court, and the anonymizers of the Central District Court of Kemerovo and the Kromskoy District Court . In addition, the prosecutor's office in Murmansk demanded to block 13 anonymizers .
