A referendum on the early elections of the President of the Republic failed in Abkhazia. A little more than one percent of voters came to vote. This was stated by RIA Novosti the head of the CEC of Abkhazia Batal Tabagua.

“The total number of citizens included in the voting lists is 132.877, the number of citizens who participated in the vote is 1.628, which is 1.23% of the lists included in the lists. The number of votes filled with 750, “against” - 761. The number of ballots recognized as invalid - 117, ”said Tabagua.

“Based on Article 28 of the Law on the referendum, the CEC decided that the referendum was recognized as failed,” he added.

During the Sunday referendum, Abkhaz citizens had to answer the question: “Do you consider it necessary to hold early elections of the President of the Republic of Abkhazia?

Later, the press service of the President of Abkhazia said that the information that the opposition has claims to hold a referendum is not true, RIA Novosti reports.

“The block of opposition forces extended an application in the media with the announcement of the boycott of the referendum. The statement, in particular, states that the President of the Republic of Abkhazia Raul Khadimba did not provide the conditions necessary for holding a referendum. Such an accusation is not true, ”the report said.
