Homophobic attack in Moscow

In July 2016, SOVA Center received a letter saying about the commission of a homophobic attack in a hostel on Nizhnyaya Krasnoselskaya Street in Moscow.

It is reported that on July 23 this year for a dormitory resident who is homosexual, suddenly attacked by an unfamiliar inhabitant of the next room, which, with the words “So that I don’t see you in the kitchen anymore. I will dismember. Pidaras" hit the young man several times in the chest, face and stomach. The commandant and neighbors of the victim helped stop the beating. Incident occurred in the bathroom in which the young man washed himself before going to bed.

A police squad was called to the hostel, and the attacker was detained. He was released two days later.

The beaten young man wrote a statement pre-investigation check.
