On August 16, 2016 it became known about allocation from federal budget 314.5 million rubles for the restoration of more than 20 monasteries and patriarchal mansions. The funds were allocated within the framework of the federal target program "Culture Russia (2012-2018)".
According to the chairman of the synodal department for monasteries and monasticism Svetlana Anokhina, “to finance design, emergency and repair and restoration work aimed at preserving the objects of the Russian Orthodox Church - monuments of history and culture, it took about billion rubles. But with the blessing of His Holiness the Patriarch, the amount of funding for the current year from the federal budget amounted to 314.5 million rubles.
The allocated money is supposed to be directed to the restoration of the Theotokos-Rozhdestvensky, Vysoko-Petrovsky, John the Baptist, Joseph-Volotsky monasteries, Assumption Metochion of Optina Hermitage, Cathedral of the Descent of the Holy Spirit of the Bethany Metochion Trinity-Sergius Lavra, Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord - Patriarchal Metochion in Ostrov village, Moscow region. Funds for the restoration of the Solovetsky Monastery within the framework of the same federal program are allocated separately .
