The Yaroslavl diocese expressed dissatisfaction with the new lids from sewer manholes installed for the 50th anniversary of the Golden Ring. On hatches temples are depicted, but you cannot walk on the image of the cross with your feet, they believe in diocese.  

September 9, 2016 it became known that the Yaroslavl diocese outraged by the new sewer manholes depicting Orthodox churches. hatches were replaced in the central part of Yaroslavl in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Golden Ring. 600 manhole covers with images of historical objects were ordered, including the number of temples.

“For every believer, the image of the cross on those objects on which they walk is unacceptable,” said the press secretary of the Yaroslavl diocese, Priest Alexander Satomsky.

"Yaroslavlvodokanal", which installed these hatches, is trying negotiate with the clergy and find, according to the director of the enterprise Alexander Makhalkin, “such a decision that there is no insult to the feelings of believers, and also, so that the company does not incur any unnecessary expenses.

Earlier, residents expressed outrage at the installation of manholes, dissatisfied with the high cost: each manhole cover cost 6200 rubles.
