If you live in Russia, a chance to face Russian railways is catastrophically great. Our St. Petersburg adept Vasily Ponomarev worked for many years a guide on trains who take tourists to the south of Russia - in Sochi, Adler, Gelendzhik, Anapa, and he knew real hot horror. For you, he made up the most complete guide to Russian trains in the world: +62 degrees in the car, impotence through an open window, why you can get into a tornado from toilet paper and tampons in Ulyanovsk. You will learn how a Russian person is poisoned by a watermelon and asks his family to eat it, and get acquainted with the most complete list of the reasons why the children cry on the train. Finally, get useful tips on survival and the answer to the eternal Russian question - what will happen if you throw scrap into the train toilet?

There is nothing worse than being locked in a small red -hot tin box with a crowd of strangers who go on vacation to the south of Russia, and there is no end to this road. It is known that the Christian doctrine of “life after life” is only fifty percent true: the remaining fifty percent boils down to the fact that hell is waiting for us not after a sad outcome, but now surrounds with its branches , which have become a little more than companies that give microloans. To get into hell, it is not necessary to even somehow sin or make misconduct, it is enough just not to understand what you are doing at all.
Southern trains are those that in the summer deliver the tired bodies of fellow citizens to our, domestic, Black Sea. This type of transport is invariably quite popular: whatever one may say, cheaper than in our south, there is still nowhere to relax, moreover, a difficult situation with Egypt and Turkey will be fostermined by patriotism in leisure matters, as well as fierce support for domestic tourism. The attachment of Crimea did not radically change the situation: the plane is still not available to Simferopol not everyone, but an alternative is an offer from Russian Railways: you drive by train to Krasnodar (or Anapa), and then by bus, which also jumps on a glorious peninsula without queue.
It seems that the “federal passenger company”, a Russian Railways unit engaged in passenger transportation and bringing about a third of the annual revenue, is a little shy of such earnings, because for respected foreign partners to see what is happening in the southern trains, it will be akin to the way you suddenly learned that the Necrophilian BDSM-Orgy was held in the apartment.
The concentration of pain and despair in Russian trains depends on the direction. For example, the worst that can happen to you on the path from Moscow to St. Petersburg is a snoring of a neighbor from the upper regiment , but in the recently cruising Solikamsk -Perm train, a pleasant company was expected from the newly released prisoners without a penny in your pocket, which are only looking for a reason to go with a return route, even in handcuffs. But why are trains of the southern directions so dangerous for passengers? The point is in some features of behavior as people who form trains running to Adler, Novorossiysk and Anapa, as well as passengers themselves who are going to rest, which in their understanding cancels all moral standards.
It happens that people get to the train to the south because they do not know about the aggregators of air tickets, or because there is no car, or because the trip is sudden, but most often the trip to the sea by rail is the result of an almost conscious choice, dictated by habit or even love for such torture. The type of torture and punishments on the train is determined by the clients of the client, but they are all focused around several points of fear and hatred, pain and suffering, which, in turn, bleed with varying degrees of abundance depending on how much you are friends with the mistress.
My main observation of the years of work by the conductor: the most terrible thing in this is that nothing really depends on you, spontaneity rules the ball on the treasury areas and in the dark tunnels of the transitions between the platforms, it crawls through the metal steps deep into your communal hell on the wheels. And you can’t escape from here.
Want to create a business? You here
The internal hierarchy of the train brigade is not known to anyone, because for most people who leave their complaints in the relevant book (and it is! In each composition!), A conductor is a person who is engaged in the completion of the compositions (and the selection of only the worst wagons); who, according to a special quota, puts alcoholics and babies on a train; which is staggering the car, while you are trying to convey the "Doshirak" flooded with boiling water to your upper side by the toilet; And further on the list.

This is the one who refills with all the processes taking place on the train, it is responsible for all the incidents that can occur along the route. He sits in a specially designated carriage, which is called “headquarters”, and there he really has a “staff”: a pantry with a bunch of all equipment in case of a fire or the beginning of an epidemic of a toned plague; a radio, where he contacts the driver and puts you bad music, which does not turn off the dynamics in the compartment with a broken handle; And in the new compositions there is a soul at all that you will still not be allowed. Well, they will be allowed, but for the money, because this lamb service is nowhere to be prescribed as an obligatory point in the spectrum of your amusements on the train. The boss can either drink tea in his “headquarters” all the way, or zealously force the guides to pull off someone's dried boats from the Railway Bonus advertising poster.

Or simply Pam. Very few saw this character with their own eyes, but, as a rule, this is a sad uncle in home training and a T -shirt, which runs into each car a couple of times a day to click with buttons at the electrical panel and check if we all die in the near future. Pam would actually prefer to drink tea in the "Stack" to all this. The responsibility of a sad uncle includes everything that needs to be corrected inside the train so that you feel good in it, but, unfortunately, one person can cope with the whole complex of non -proceeds in the composition that he has a peer, simply cannot. Therefore, if you are bad inside the train, then this is most likely until the end of the trip.
Judging by the stories of experienced PAM-S, before everything was much more fun: one cheerful electrician told me how in the Solikamsk-Perm train he washed the convicts with their own consequences of stormy alcohol and threw from the composition on the half-stamps.

The third and last participant in the train brigade. For many, it becomes a sensation that there are no cleaners, differential of newspapers or seller of souvenirs - all this, among other things, are engaged in conductors. Formally, the conductor is obliged to monitor the safety of your trip, land and landing and check the availability of travel documents. But in fact, this person puts things in order in the carriage, the whole trip is driving the toilets, taking out the garbage, and also provides his depot for the sales of tea, souvenirs and lottery of Russian Railways. This is exactly what the former prestige of the profession smocked - if earlier the conductor replaced the stewardess in your aesthetic niche, now its task is to convince you that your tea is not as good as the one you can buy from her. Two years ago, in order for the conductor to get a prize, each passenger had to leave at least 30 rubles on the train.

All these people will surround you in a fierce all -metal womb on the wheels.

In fairness, I note that sometimes a trip to the seas by rail can be a very pleasant event. However, the combination of stars in the sky, which will bring you the opportunity to go to the toilet when it seems, use boiling water, breathe fresh air and sprinkle, until the scientists are fixed, so buying a ticket at a delightfully low price always turns into a fun lottery.
The thing is that most southern trains are either additional in themselves, or expanded to daily run due to additional compositions. Accordingly, in most of the deposit, these compositions are gathering like it - of those wagons that are not too much mothballed and are more comfortable in the park for “clearing”. The wagons that are equipped with the southern trains can differ significantly in age not even within the same depot, but in the framework of one composition: the oldest, which first went on rails under Khrushchev, go along with wagons built a few months before your trip. And tickets in them will be the same.
As a result, it may turn out that happy reserved seats will bathe in the affectionate rays of the air conditioner and put off acquaintance from +30 degrees before leaving the train, and more wealthy citizens will die in the compartment of “winter” wagons with small windows and without a single hint of ventilation.

The air conditioner here is needed in the literal sense, like air. Without this wonderful device, you, waking up in the pool from your own sweat, every time you will be surprised that the train is not in Aushwitz, but you even have your own regiment. Somewhere south of Ulyanovsk, a temperature of about +40 is the norm, the wagons are heated and, since the metals carry out heat well, you can already take money from passengers for the use of a train bath inside the composition. The absolute record of the air temperature that I was recorded on the train was +62 degrees! And no windows will help, because technical stops and “we will blow us, we will get sick!”
Technical stops are when your train stands in the steppe or in the middle of a dense village (village, farm) for about forty to five minutes, patiently waiting for others to overtake it or all the oncoming ones pass. Due to this, the time of the “from and to” paths solidly grows, and the life -giving flows of air into the windows are also excluded. However, the flows are often not so life -giving - where does fresh air come from, if the street is only a little colder than in a boiler with red -hot oil? Technical stops in the summer are also fraught with the fact that the car will be attacked by midges, mosquitoes, flies and other animals from a neighboring swamp, which was envious of the light in the windows. The real nightmare for traveling to Adler not so long ago was the Pogorelovo station between Krasnodar and a hot key - it was on it that there were passenger trains that skip counterclaims, and the duration of the parking (without jokes) could reach two hours. Air temperature +40, flies and mosquitoes about a whole combat detachment per person. Oh yes, the release of passengers at technical stations is prohibited, so you need to sit in their places all this time and die. And the toilets are closed, because during the parking lot it is forbidden to use them.
The wagons of the construction of the GDR of the 80s and 90s were the first to offer the opportunity to breathe fresh air, but now their air conditioning systems have already outlived their, unlike the wagons themselves. As a result - constant breakdowns and hellish heat in a car, which has only two windows for the entire corridor and the whole compartment. When by the conductor, I repeatedly got to such wagons and, in addition to the performance of direct duties, had to run out with a bucket of cold water at each station and pour boxes with a fan located under the car so that it cooled and worked for at least half an hour. Even in such a car, I had a refrigerator whose motor worked in the literal sense “with a kick”, just like a spaceship in the film “Armageddon”.

The closets in the southern trains are still rare, the “sanitary zones” are much more familiar-this is when you cannot get to the toilet for an hour and a half or two hours. In general, this is a rather reasonable invention: as a rule, sanitary zones pass where the railway lies in the immediate vicinity of residential buildings, and the longest of them is between Tuapse and Adler, where the railway track separates the beaches from the residential areas of numerous villages. However, the righteous anger of passengers often forces guides to open toilets where this is not worth it: as a result - an incomparable pleasure to step on the path to the beach, as well as tornadoes from toilet paper and tampons during the weather in Ulyanovsk or Saratov.
By and large, nothing, because most wagons have fan pipes sticking to the side, and not vertically down, and therefore the scrap either gets stuck in the bends of the pipe, or will drag on the embankment, without harming the rails, sleepers and reality to the emergency stop of the train, and this happens, as a rule, quite quickly, because in the presence of extraneous sounds from under the carriage, the conductor is required Stop Crane. Although a small chance of pulling out the toilet “with meat” and the formation of a hole in the floor is still preserved. But still, you should not experiment, even though there is really scrap in each carriage.
Sanitary zones generate lines in toilets, where people are breaking up at the first opportunity. Those who, as a rule, were not in a hurry to go out - there are at least three ways to take a shower in the toilet, at least twenty -nine poses from the Kamasutra, which fit into the existing space, and at least one ban on smoking on the train, so the train toilet is dignified in the list of passenger sources.
The dry closets began to appear for the first time in the same German cars of the 90s, but they received the greatest prevalence in wagons built in our century. Their main advantage is that you can use them both on parking lots, and where a sanitary zone acts for ordinary toilets. Their main feature is a vacuum system in which the shit decomposes to a liquid state and then removes with a special car with a tank and a hose connected to a fan pipe - an “elephant”. Their vulnerable place is a valve that easily breaks when something gets at least a little denser than shit. To seize this item, it is necessary to completely disassemble the structure, which most PEMs do very reluctantly. Above each toilet there is a sign with a request not to throw toilet paper into it, but, as you know, our person is not used to reading small inscriptions, and therefore disables the dry closet even before the start of the trip.

This is not a joke!
