Leaders of the Mejlis were fined in Crimea

Ali Khamzin was fined 1,000 rubles for participating in a meeting of the Mejlis, whose activities were suspended by the prosecutor's office. Deputy head of the Mejlis Ilmi Umerov was fined 750 rubles.

On September 27, 2016, a court in Crimea fined Ali Khamzin, a member of the Presidium of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, 1,000 rubles under Part 1 of Art. 20.28 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (organization of the activities of a public or religious association, in respect of which a decision has been made to suspend its activities). The protocol on an administrative offense was drawn up after Khamzin was interviewed at the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Bakhchisaray district. This was announced on his Facebook page by the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis Nariman Jelyalov.

On September 28, Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis Ilmi Umerov posted on his page that the Bakhchisaray District Court had fined him under Part 1 of Art. 20.28 of the Code of Administrative Offenses for 750 rubles for participation in the meeting of the Mejlis, which was held on September 22, 2016.

The activities of the Mejlis were suspended by the Crimean Prosecutor's Office in April 2016 after a lawsuit was filed in February to liquidate it (our position on the accusations against the organization is set out here ). On April 26, 2016, the Supreme Court of Crimea recognized was filed against this decision the Mejlis as an extremist organization, an appeal , which will be considered by the Supreme Court of Russia on September 29.

We believe that the ban of the Mejlis has no weighty grounds due to the activities of the organization, it is dictated by political motives, which were directly stated by the Crimean prosecutor Natalia Poklonskaya. From our point of view, this decision is not only unlawful, but also politically reckless, since it can provoke an aggravation of interethnic relations on the peninsula.

On October 6, 2016, the head of the CEC of the Kurultai of the Crimean Tatar people, Zair Smedlya (Smedlyaev), announced on Facebook that under Art. On 20.28 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, the Bakhchisarai District Court also fined members of the Mejlis Sadykh Tabakh, Shevket Kaybullaev and Bekir Mamutov. On October 7, a fine of 500 rubles was imposed on Enver Kurtiev. Consideration of the protocol in relation to Abduraman Egiz was also expected. The administrative hearings of Emine Avamileva, Mustafa Maushev and Dilyaver Akiyev, who requested an interpreter and witnesses, will continue on October 14, October 20 and October 24, respectively.

On October 14, Emine Avamalieva was fined 750 rubles. On October 20, Abduraman Egiz was fined 750 rubles. On October 24, Dilyaver Akiev was fined 500 rubles.
