In Tatarstan, against nine people suspected of involvement in Hizb ut-Tahrir, a case was opened on charges of organizing and participation in the activities of a terrorist organization.
On September 29, 2016, it became known about the excitation in Tatarstan criminal case against nine people accused of cooperation with Hizb ut-Tahrir. Depending on the role of each 24-year-old Edgorzhon Abdumuminov, 27-year-old Ilnar Valiullin, 29-year-old Kamil Mikhailov, 38-year-old Marat and Renat Shammasov, 25-year-old Marat Davletshin, 33-year-old Zulfat Safin, 24-year-old Bulat Makhmutov and Timur Sadykov are charged with part-time punishment. 1 and 2 Art. 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of activities terrorist organization and participation in the activities of such an organization).
The investigation believes that Ilnar Valiullin organized in Tatarstan branch of Hizb ut-Tahrir, involved new members in it, with which together from December 2013 to June 2016 they held meetings in village of Vasilyevo, Zelenodolsk district.
All the accused were detained on September 27, 2016.
In April 2017, a number of publications reported that most of the suspects testified against Makhmutov and Sadykov and were released from custody.
